Harrington Considers Pros & Cons of a Certified Local Government
The Town of Harrington, along with the Harrington Public Development Authority and the Harrington Opera House Society hosted a workshop on the pros and cons of becoming a Certified Local Government (CLG) for the purpose of historic preservation on May 21, 2009.
The Harrington community is dedicated to the preservation of its historic buildings and wants to learn more about available tax incentives and grants for historic preservation.
Megan Duvall from the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation gave a presentation and lead a discussion focused on the benefits and the requirements to become a Certified Local Government.
The Harrington City Council appointed the Harrington Historic Preservation Commission in December 2009 and tasked them with completing the application to establish the CLG.
