Almira

Almira is located in Lincoln County approximately 85 miles west of Spokane on Highway 2.

The Annual Almira Country Fair is held each year during the last weekend in September. This event features a parade, craft show, games and other old fashioned country activities.

In April a Community Yard sale is scheduled around the Baseball Schedule.

The Hotel Almira is on the National Register of Historic Places and is currently being renovated and will soon open as a restaurant, lounge and Bed and Breakfast. For information call 509-639-2477.

Heading North out of town on The Old Coulee road is a Blue Bird Trail, developed by the citizens in Almira. On this 20 mile stretch the bird watching is at it’s best. This trail is a loop off the tourist route called the Coulee Corridor. www.bbrcd.com/204.html

Both Lake Roosevelt and Banks Lake are within 30 miles of Almira. There are a number of picnic and camping areas, and miles and miles of open water for boating and skiing. Creston
Creston is located 60 miles west of Spokane on Highway 2.
Creston’s annual Community Days is held Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Some of the events  include a breakfast  at the school, The Butte or Bust Run, a parade at 11:00 a.m. and activities and a lunch at the Park.

Creston’s Town Hall Auditorium contains historical pictures and information, including the story of Harry Tracy, a Wild West outlaw who was gunned down by a Creston posse on August 5th, 1902 after an extensive manhunt. The Creston Town Hall is situated in a historic building, originally the site of the Creston state Bank.

Creston is currently building a Skate Board Park on the east side of town.
Creston is located within 8 miles of Lincoln, located on Lake Roosevelt that offers a boat launch, swimming and camping opportunities.

The Lake Roosevelt Recreation Area lies within a 30 mile radius of Creston with recreation opportunities including Keller Ferry, Fort Spokane, Porcupine Bay, Seven Bays, And Two Rivers Casino. The drive to any of these areas offers amazing wildlife viewing opportunities.

Harrington
A small, quiet community of 482 residents, Harrington is located in central Lincoln County in the heart of the Big Bend wheat belt. It is situated on scenic State Highway 28, 13 miles south of Davenport, the county seat, and 22 miles north of Ritzville and Interstate 90. Lincoln County is the second largest wheat producing county in the United States, and wheat farming is the main source of income in the community.
Settled in the 1880's, Harrington is a community with a rich pioneer heritage. Early homesteaders plowed the land, built fine homes and created a thriving business district.

Visit with a local while in town and you'll likely find yourself speaking with a 4th or 5th generation descendant of an original settler. Odessa
Odessa is located in Lincoln County approximately 85 miles southwest of Spokane.  Odessa was founded in the 1800’s by cattleman, George W. Finney. Eighty percent of the immigrants settling in Odessa were Germans from Russia. With them they brought the German culture.

Deutchesfest, attracting an average of 30,000 people, is held Thursday through Sunday on the third weekend in September.  This is the community’s main event celebrating its German heritage.  Activities range from a great selection of live bands, a bed race, Beirgarten, Youth Garten, German foods, Arts and Craft Show, Flea Market, Parade, Fun run, 3 on 3 basketball, poker run, and more.

In November The Odessa Lions Club holds their annual Turkey Carnival at the Odessa Community Center. This includes games and prizes for children, as well as bingo and dice with prizes and frozen Turkeys, and a lunch counter serving burgers and homemade pies.

In December the Christmas Fest offers a selection of perfect gift items. In April a Spring Fling that includes a car show and the largest Quilt Show in Eastern Washington.

Just West of Odessa the Annual Desert 100 is held. Centered around family participation, this is an off road motorcycle race.

The Odessa Golf Club and RV Park offers a challenging 9 hole course and Reiman Park offers an Aquatic Recreation Center for all ages.
The Municipal Airport has a well-maintained 3000 foot runway that welcomes visitors from near and far.

The Odessa Historisches Museum takes you back over 100 years into the past, while local genealogists will help trace your heritage at the Big Bend American Historical Society of Germans from Russia located in an historic church.

The Lakeview Recreation Area, located 8 miles north of Odessa, is owned and maintained by the Bureau of Land Management. Carved by the Missoula Floods over 12,000 years ago, you will find Pacific and Walter Lakes, the Odessa to Pacific Lake Trail, and the geologically unique Odessa Craters. Reardan

Reardan was officially incorporated on April 14, 1903. Famous Native American writer Sherman Alexie attended Reardan High School which is featured in a few of his stories.

Located on Highway 2, 13 miles east of Davenport and 20 miles west of Spokane, there were 608 people, 227 households, and 174 families residing in the town as of the 2000 Census.

“Reardan Mule Days” is held the first weekend of June. A parade, Fun Run, carnival, craft show, bingo, 3-on-3 basketball, car show, horse and mule events, melodrama, bicycle ride, BBQ, tractor show, music, dance, beer garden are some of the activities.

The Buggy Barn Annual Outdoor Quilt Show & Folk Art Sale is held in late August. Quilts are hung from buildings, clotheslines and draped over the fences. The really big quilts can be displayed on the big barn. The public is invited to share quilts at the show. 877-339-0281, www.BuggyBarnQuilts.com
In early September, the All City Garage Sale & Craft Show consists of over 50 garage sales, more than 40 craft booths in the park.
Reardan abuts a 270 acre wildlife refuge, Reardan Audubon Lakewith trails for birdwatchers.

Sprague
The City of Sprague is located along Interstate 90 approximately 25 miles west of Spokane.  Sprague’s historic down town tells the story of a bustling railroad town at the turn of the century.  St Mary’s Catholic Church is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Kathy’s Market in is the nomination process.

Sprague Days’, on the 2nd weekend of June, is the community’s annual celebration.  Events include a Parade, Toilet Races, Bocce Ball Tournament, vendors in the park, music and dancing, a Fireman’s Breakfast and Church in the Park on Sunday.

In December the Sprague Chamber hosts a Craft Show.

Sprague has almost completed a bike track, and is hoping to get it certified as a BMX course.

Several Lakes are within 20 miles of Sprague, including Sprague Lake, Williams Lake, & Fish Trap Lake.  Sprague Lake, just 2 miles west of town, is a 6 mile long and 1 mile wide lake enhanced by a bird refuge. Sprague Lake is one of only two known nesting sites for American White Pelican in the state. For more information click here.

Sprague also has access to the Columbia Plateau Bike Trail, a 4,109-acre, 130-milelong rail-bed trail that traces the original 1908 original path of the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railroad. Click here for more information.

Wilbur
Wilbur is located in Lincoln County about 70 miles west of Spokane on Highway 2. Among the businesses to visit are Sun Rock Bakery and Whitestone Winery.

The Annual Wilbur community celebration is Wild Goose Bill Days, held each year the 2nd weekend in June. Activities include The Wild Goose Chase, a 3.5 mile race, The VFW Parade, The Ugly Horsepower Competition, A Variety Show, A Civil War Re-enactment, and Live Music at the Chamber run beer hall. The community cleans house on the 3rd Saturday of June with a huge Community Yard Sale.

On the last weekend of July the Goose Creek Opry puts on a fabulous weekend of Bluegrass music and a fiddle contest. For more information go to www.goosecreekopry.org/

In November on the Friday after Thanksgiving Wilbur has its Festival of Lights. Local Volunteers and the Chamber put up a dramatic display of Christmas Lights in the Town Park and around town. All the local businesses have a moonlight sale and Santa comes to Town for his first appearance of the year in a horse-drawn wagon. Free wagon rides are available after delivering your wish list to Santa.
The Big Bend Historical Museum is located in Wilbur. This is a beautiful Museum in an old church full of local history. For more information call 509-647-5863.

The Big Bend Golf and Country Club is a nine-hole Golf Course in Wilbur.
